Orchidopexy
Procedure Overview
Orchidopexy is surgery to move an undescended testicle into its normal position in the scrotum and secure it there, ideally performed within the first year of life.
Who Needs It
Recommended for infants and young children with an undescended testicle that hasn't descended on its own by around 6 months of age.
Preparation
Preparation includes a physical examination, sometimes an ultrasound, and fasting before anesthesia.
Step-by-Step Procedure
Anesthesia
General anesthesia is administered.

A small incision is made in the groin.

The testicle and its blood supply are carefully mobilized.

The testicle is repositioned into the scrotum.
